Comic-Con Boy!
We're Ready
By Aaron Kaufman
God of War is ready to enter the realm of Comic-Con for the first time amongst the thousands of fans descending upon sunny San Diego, California this weekend. While plenty of caped crusaders and web-slinging friends will be conquering the halls of SDCC, here is what your friends from the Norse realm have planned. Don't worry, if you can't make it live, we'll be republishing all of this activity post-show.
During our first major Comic-Con panel this Friday, hear about the different creative approaches between games and film during reinvention. Our Game Director, Cory Barlog, is joined by Steven DeKnight (producer of Daredevil TV series, director of Pacific Rim: Uprising) and Jordan Vogt-Roberts (director of Kong: Skull Island, Metal Gear Solid upcoming film) in a stunning panel you'll need to see (or watch on PlayStation YouTube after) to truly believe. And...it's being moderated by your favorite citizen of the hit show Silicon Valley, Thomas Middleditch.
In our second major panel at Comic-Con, experience how the reinvigoration of our new direction with God of War, began with a simple comic and what it took to reach store shelves. Some of the original members of our early pre-production team Cory Barlog (Game Director), Joe M. Kennedy (Senior Concept Artist), Eric Williams (Senior Designer), and Bruno Velazquez (Animation Director), share their stories, deleted scenes, and early prototypes and visuals, including "The Hunt," an original short story and comic by Cory Barlog. This panel is being moderated by the lovely and extremely talented, Alanah Pearce (@Charalanahzard)
We've seen incredible God of War merchandise being unveiled weekly since launch, and we can always expect nothing short of immaculate perfection when it comes to our friends at Mondo. They recently unveiled our first ever God of War Vinyl 2XLP (featuring the original soundtrack by Bear McCreary) and it's absolutely stunning. Next, debuting at Comic-Con is their first ever Kratos 1/6 Scale Figure (below) - Standing 12.5" inches tall, and featuring 25+ points of articulation, two interchangeable heads, fabric costume elements, multiple weapons & accessories (including Mimir!). If you're at the show, visit booth #435 to get a sneak peek, or hang tight for the pre-order this fall.
Continuing to roll the incredible merchandise out, debuting at Comic-Con comes the long-awaited 7" Scale Action Figure - Ultimate Kratos & Atreus 2-Pack from NECA. Kratos features a new aggressive head sculpt, new Mimir head on right hip, a familiar iconic weapon :o), new hands, new collapsed shield, 4 new Leviathan Axe blades, and new Rage fire and frost effects for weapons and hands, as well as 36 points of articulation. The all-new Atreus figurine has over 25 points of articulation and comes with his trusty Talon bow and arrows. This deluxe edition 2-pack will be available later this year.
And...that's...not...all...we're doing at Comic-Con. We will have some exciting news to share with our friends at Titan Publishing during our Friday panel. You can also find Cory Barlog Friday 6-7pm working on his autograph at the Dark Horse booth along with God of War Comic lead artist Tony Parker, and cover artist E.M. Gist. Free signed poster of this hotness from E.M. Finally, the PlayStation Gear Store Booth will have all your favorite God of War merchandise for sale.
